Easter market Schloss Hof
Saunter through the blossoming Meierhof, enjoy the Easterly atmosphere with regional delicacies from kitchen and cellar and be inspired by the diverse offerings of craft and art at the market. There is also a colorful entertainment program for our youngest guests, such as a pony ride, horse coach tours, the Easter Bunny’s workshop and – of course – the Easter Bunny will give away sweet surprises.
The sprawling area of Schloss Hof of ca. 500.000 square meters is located in the East of Lower Austria. The mixture of lordly house, artistic terrace garden and idyllic mansion was built in the late 1720s for Prince Eugene of Savoyen to be used as a hunting castle. Its architect, Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt, was able to draw on unlimited resources – because not only was his client among the most decorated field commanders but also among the wealthiest men of his time.
Hundreds of workers, day-workers and gardeners were hired to realize Hildebrandt’s plan over the course of several years. When construction was completed around 1730, one of the most impressive pieces of art of European barock had assumed its great shape.
