You are looking for THE gift or you want to have an adventure yourself? Be a captain once and navigate a 63 meter long ship of DDSG Blue Danube with your own hands.
The dream of being a captain and steering a huge ship can become true at DDSG. After an introduction onboard the 63 meter long MS Dürnstein, you may take control of the ship under supervision. Participants receive a certificate and a photo.
The adventure begins at Schifffahrtszentrum in Krems/Stein. After an introduction to the radar system the aspiring captains are taught how to navigate by real captain Thomas Graner. Then the participants may, under his supervision, accelerate the ship with two V8 engines of 650 HP each up to 22,5 kmh.
The cruise takes between 1 and 3,5 hours, depending on the number of participants. A maximum of 10 packages “Be a Captain once” can be booked per cruise. There is no limit in companions, so you can bring your entire family to share your experience with them.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Booking the package “Be a Captain once” is possible for persons older than 15 years.
After the 3-hour cruise every participant receives a certificate, a souvenir photo and a ship’s bell.

You can purchase tickets at all our ticket offices in Vienna or Wachau Valley. You can also pre-purchase your tickets via the Online Shop and easily print them at home (print@home-ticket).

Dogs are free of charge. Leash and muzzle mandatory! It is not possible to take your dog on cruises with bus transfer!

Wheelchairs have to be announced in advance for all cruises. Please notice that there is no barrier-free access in every station (Tulln, Korneuburg).
Electric wheelchair upon request.
For special cruises with seperate transfer by bus included wheelchairs are not possible.
